Women play important roles throughout the fishing value chain, and also for the conservation of aquatic resources. Women glean and collect seafood from the mangroves. Women clean and process the fish. They sell fish products in the markets. However, there is little recognition of women’s valuable contribution to the fisheries sector. Their roles, needs and constraints are mostly invisible or neglected.
