Every year, millions of tons of waste end up in the oceans, carried away by the river streams. In Cambodia, toxic plastic waste is often mixed with organic waste, buried, burned or littered… An issue that the authorities of Kratie City decided to tackle with the Social and Behavior Change Communication Campaign “No More Waste, It Starts with You!“, produced for our clients The Asia Foundation and GIZ Cambodia.
Our team created an educational comics and games book distributed in Kratie’s schools to raise awareness on the responsibility everyone has regarding the good management of waste, and the prevention of plastic pollution in the environment. The comic book tells the story of Cheata, a girl living on the riverside of Kratie who becomes best friend with a Mekong river dolphin. As the pollution rises in the river, the dolphin gets trapped into drifting plastic waste and awakens the plastic monster from the depths of the Mekong. Will Cheata manage to save him? Will we all manage to protect this beautiful endangered species threatened by waste littering? No more waste, it starts with you!
Let’s have a look at the comics and games book we designed:
Our illustration works also include 4 billboards set up in areas of Kratie where litter is the most problematic: The schools, the markets, the rural villages and the riverside. Here they are!
