From Battambang, With Love
Through this short animation, we want to pay tribute to our beloved city. All of us in Battambang know the “Black Man Statue”. It belongs to the legend of Ta Dumbong which translates to “Lost Stick” and tells the story of a humble cowherd who stumbles upon a magic stick, rises to power as king, but is haunted by a prophecy that leads to his downfall. Even today, Ta Dumbong is a significant figure in Battambang, where people visit his statue to pray. The city’s original name, “Bat-dam-bong,” is derived from this folkloric story.
